Counselling for Men
One of the more discouraging shortfalls of psychotherapy is that so few men take advantage of this resource relative to women. An extra layer is that so few of the resources in our region set themselves up as inviting to men. If you’ve come to see this page by searching for “men’s counselling,” you’d likely notice that few practices even have dedicated pages for men (shoutout to the team at Transformation Counselling).
Zenith Counselling acknowledges that despite the societal expectation for men to be both emotionally sensitive and the “manly man,” many men are neither taught nor encouraged to express emotional states outside of anger. This has had a devastating effect on the mental health of our men and boys in our society. This role confusion can often develop into feeling under-appreciated, feeling taken for granted, and shame within many men. We are committed to supporting you as you navigate elements of yourself that you may have felt compelled to keep hidden.
Even if you’re on the fence about therapy or have questions about the process, we encourage you to reach out so that we can do whatever we can to help you make an informed decision on your mental health.
